Does any of this support our needs on Earth? Does any of it leverage our experience and assets in order to extract badly needed practical benefits from the nearby frontiers we conquered more than 40 years ago? With continual focus on manned Mars and solar system exploration as the “next step,” no practical returns from its immense cost for untold generations, and an America going broke, are both Constellation and the proposed “transformational” deep space exploration program unsustainable? Are both programs mere straw horses, destined to go the way of “de-development?” |
