“I found a definite evolutionary connection from which fundamental justifications and an evolutionary strategy of expansion into space can be derived. I called it The Extraterrestrial Imperative. I wrote papers on the subject, made presentations to NASA and testified before Congressional committees, but the interest in space waned as fast as it had waxed before. No foundations or in-depth understanding had been laid and there was no interest in one.”
