| LH2 research in America dates back to the pioneering work of William Giauque and Herrick Johnson in the 1920s. Over three decades of limited R&D followed as disparate groups peeled away various layers of the challenge from LH2 production and handling to LH2 as aircraft and rocket engine fuel. There was no adequate funding, no NASA and no space program, yet. |
